FOIRE AUX QUESTIONS

A LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) floor is a vinyl floor that comes in the form of parquet-like strips or tile-like slabs. This type of flooring has several advantages:

It’s beautiful

With LVT, benefit from the advantages of vinyl without the disadvantages of the original materials. The wood and stone imitations are extremely realistic.

It’s easy to install

LVT flooring comes in 2 installation profiles: clickable and glue-down vinyl tiles and planks. The first type is a floating installation that does not require any special preparation of the substrate and is within everyone’s reach. The second type requires more careful work but is a way to have a very beautiful floor covering at a very competitive price. In addition, for both profiles, cutting the planks is easy and does not require any special tools.

It’s easy to maintain

Vinyl floors are easy to clean with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent. They also come with a surface treatment to protect them from stains.

It’s impact and scratch resistant

The surface of a vinyl floor is also treated against impact marks and scratches. Thanks to a wear layer that varies in thickness depending on requirements, the daily wear and tear to which the floor is subjected is virtually invisible.

It’s thin

The reduced thickness of PVC planks and tiles makes them an excellent product for renovation. They can be laid over most existing floor coverings (the list is available in our installation instructions) without having to trim the door bottoms to prevent them from rubbing.

It’s moisture resistant

Vinyl floors are highly resistant to moisture and can be laid in rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens.

It’s comfortable

The underfoot feel of vinyl is soft and tempered due to its insulating properties.

It’s affordable

Not the least of the advantages of LVT flooring! It is much cheaper to buy, install and maintain than many of the floors it imitates.

Installing click-down vinyl planks or tiles is not rocket science!

Before you start, make sure the surface is smooth, clean, and dry. Your vinyl planks or tiles should have been stored in the room for at least 48 hours to settle in. PVC, like all materials, expands, so make sure it has stabilised at room temperature before laying. It is also for this reason that you will use edge spacers which will allow some space for the product to expand when there are large temperature variations and prevent the floor from warping.

Once you are ready to start, get a measuring tape, a pencil, a ruler, a cutter, a mallet, and plastic spacers. These are all the tools you will need to lay your vinyl floor.

All you have to do is follow the step-by-step installation instructions you will find in the box of your vinyl floor or download them from our documentation centre. You can also follow the process through our installation video.

Once the floor has been laid, there’s no need to wait, you can move in straight away!

Installing glue-down vinyl planks or tiles requires a bit of attention to detail but is not complicated!

Before starting, make sure the surface is smooth, clean and dry and you have allowed the planks to settle in the room for 72 hours. Like all materials, PVC expands, it must therefore be installed at room temperature (between 18 and 21°C) to ensure stability.

Take a measuring tape, a pencil, a ruler, a cutter, glue adapted to the installation of vinyl flooring and a notched scraper to spread it.

Each box contains installation instructions, which you can refer to for guidance. You can also download them from our documentation centre or watch the video tutorial.

Once the floor has been laid, wait for the glue to dry completely before walking on it!

The use of an underlay is possible, but not compulsory when you’re installing clickable vinyl planks or tiles. However, an underlay cannot be used for glue-down tiles and planks, as this would prevent them from adhering to the substrate.

You may decide to use an underlay for various reasons:

  • To smooth out the unevenness of a floor that is not perfectly flat
  • For sound insulation
  • For thermal insulation
  • To use over underfloor heating
  • For your comfort

The underlay must be thin and suitable for vinyl floors. For your convenience, we also offer vinyl planks and tiles with an integrated underlay.

Clickable vinyl tiles and planks are laid as a floating installation, so it is possible to install them over existing tiles. It is only necessary to level the joints if they exceed 2mm deep and 4mm wide, because they may damage your vinyl floor and will be visible over time. More pronounced joints could damage your vinyl floor and show over time.

A floating vinyl floor is an ideal solution for a low-cost renovation, especially if you are renting, as the floor can be removed without damaging the tiles underneath. Opt for an easy solution: Infinity Clic 55 vinyl planks and tiles with integrated underlay.

If you are installing glue-down tiles and planks, you will need to level the floor before installation.

Vinyl is an excellent thermal conductor, making it an ideal floor covering to lay over underfloor heating. Florafloor LVT is compatible with low temperature underfloor heating systems where the elements are incorporated into the substrate. Vinyl flooring cannot be in direct contact with a heating element and is therefore not compatible with underfloor film heating.

If you are installing clickable LVT, use a suitable underlay. If you choose glued-down LVT, make sure the glue is compatible with the underfloor heating.

In either case, the underfloor heating must have been switched off for more than 48 hours before you can start laying the floor, while maintaining room temperature during the installation with an auxiliary heater.

Click down PVC flooring is easy to install and easy to repair!

If you have damaged a plank or tile of your vinyl floor, you don’t need to redo the whole surface, you just replace the damaged piece.

Click-down LVT

Cut the damaged plank with a cutter (not too close to the grooves so as not to damage the neighbouring boards). Once you have removed the board, remember to remove the pieces that have remained in the grooves of the neighbouring boards.

Next, tape the area where you will insert the new board after cutting the grooves. Start by inserting the tongue into the neighbouring board and then press the board to the floor. Hammer it down to avoid air bubbles and to secure the board in place. That’s it!

Glue-down LVT

Cut the damaged board with a cutter, taking care not to damage the other boards. Once the damaged board has been removed, scrape off the glue residue and degrease with methylated spirit. Once the surface is clean and dry, apply glueand place your new board on it, remembering to wipe off any glue that has risen into the joints.

Wait for the glue to dry before walking on your floor again.
